[edit] Information

As the quest to explore extreme environments in space continues, NASA engineers team up with marine archaeologists to test the technology available for exploration under ice. NASA Explores Under the Ice follows a team of scientists through the first underwater archaeological expedition in the Arctic. It searches for a US whaling fleet that sank in this region during the 19th century. Using three-dimensional technology, the 'telepresence remotely operated vehicle' (TROV) produces a virtual reality computer rendering of the underwater environment that elevates accurate and detailed depictions of underwater worlds to new heights.
