Woh-o-wo-o, woh-o-wo-o. The unmistakable sound of the Police booms out across Tokyo Dome on Valentine's Day and the group are sending out a 'Message In A Bottle' to open the final night of their first tour of Japan in more than 25 years. And the reply from the audience after a set lasting about an hour and three quarters was welcome back. The Police were a new wave band which formed in 1977 in London, England. The band consisted of Sting (vocals, bass), Andy Summers (guitar) and Stewart Copeland (drums). The band released five albums — "Outlandos d'Amour" (1978), "Reggatta de Blanc" (1979), "Zenyatta Mondatta" (1980), "Ghost in the Machine" (1982) and "Synchronicity" (1983) — before entering a hiatus in 1984 and ultimately disbanding in 1986 Thirty years after they first stormed the music scene, legendary rock band The Police embarked on a reunion tour on May 28, 2007. The Police played an astounding 151 concerts on their 2007/08 reunion tour and grossed S362 million. Volatile chemistry created the Police, and tore the band apart -- but thanks to Sting, the band returns to tour. In the fall of 2006, after an extensive period of time away from his formerly combative band mates, Sting reportedly surprised himself with the idea of taking a break from his solo career to go on tour again with Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland. This highly successful world tour visited five continents, played to nearly 3.7 million fans and garnered numerous accolades from Billboard, Pollstar, as well as The People's Choice award for Favorite Reunion Tour. It also went down in history as the third highest grossing tour of all-time.
